Moments

Life is lived in moments and images. Some whizz by and are gone in a flash. Some drag on and bore you to tears. Some stay with you forever. That single, fleeting moment/image appears and in that hitched, short intake of breath; It's captured. Life is lived in snatched moments, short giggles and landscapes rushing past car windows. Everything is so ephemeral but certain things really do stay with you forever. How sad it is to think that sometimes we miss these millisecond moments. Just like a picturesque view from a window, things can be missed, in the blink of an eye, just as quickly as they can be engrained on our hearts and minds.

Did you know that all the time you spend with your eyes shut, due to blinking, equates to thirty minutes a day? Those thirty minutes you spend with your eyes shut; imagine what you could have missed, that you could have seen that would have changed your life forever. It's not just moments, sights and images, that you miss... Life is full of spilled milk and pictures that got away from you, blurry and out of frame. It's ok! Richelle Goodrich once said “You were born, and with you endless possibilities―very few ever to be realized.  It's okay.  Life was never about what you could do, but what you would do. ”

So on this ephemeral, fleeting pit-stop on our journey to who knows where..Stop, and stay a little longer. Maybe these things do not have to be short-lived. Slow down: savour snatched moments, spend time watching the midnight sky. Look up and " be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high, and then realise then that life seems almost enchanted after all." - Vincent Van Gogh. Realize that there are a thousand un-lived moments, like untouched stars, an infinity for every day we live; moments that can be captured. Stop crying over spilled milk, simply live and live long. Most of all....... Live in slow motion with your eyes wide open.

I am awaiting
Perpetually and forever
A renaissance of wonder
- Ferlinghetti
